Anesthesia & Surgery

Cats are members of our families, so it can be worrisome when they have to go under anesthesia for a dental or surgery. The good news is we start by running pre-anesthetic blood work. We pre-medicate using a multi-modal approach to reduce the use of anesthetic gas. We provide excellent pain control, and select our anesthetic protocols to be safe and tailored for your beloved cat. We provide a dedicated technician to monitor before, during, and after surgery. We use the best technology to monitor multiple parameters to not only ensure the survival of the patient but to also prevent any injury from a poor anesthetic experience. Most cats recover quickly from surgery, sometimes even faster than expected.

Our veterinarians only recommend surgery for sound medical reasons. We’ll educate you on the details of the procedure and the after-care necessary. There are risks associated with every anesthesia event or surgical procedure. We will discuss the risks with you beforehand so you can make an informed decision.

Depending on the type of procedure being performed and the needs of each cat, different levels of sedation, total intravenous anesthesia, or general gas anesthesia might be used.

Our partnerships:

For endoscopy and complicated surgeries we bring in a Board Certified Internist or Surgeon to provide the service for your cat in the comfort of our cat-only hospital.

Most importantly, for any serious surgeries requiring a specialist and/or hospitalization stay for recovery, we will facilitate the referral for you so you can get the needed care for your cat.
